The owners of bar Des Arts approached us asking for a concept for turning a disused hairdressing salon in Guildford into a bar. The site has a theatre opposite and the clients wished to attract the many visitors to the theatre into the bar, by making it truly a ‘Bar for the Arts.’
The brief for the project was to fully plan, design and install the bar area, space plan the lounge area and concept design. We did this by taking the viewpoint of the bar staff and designing a bar area that maximised its functionality so they could access all the necessary elements of the bar with ease.
When a bar is at its busiest everything needs to be accessible so we installed Champagne chillers, glass washers, cocktail stations and coffee machines, all with the serving staff in mind. The bar was built in solid Tuscan Walnut with large, ornate mirrors enhancing the sense of space. The glass shelving at the back of the bar was up lit to create a focal point, whilst large glass ceiling pendant lights lit the bar.
This was the clients first bar business so budgets were paramount to the success of getting this business off the ground. We can thankfully say we achieved everything on time and to the required budget. The business has gone from strength to strength.
The project took 10 weeks from being appointed to handover of project.
