LE1 Bar

LE1 in Leicester has come a long way from its former use as a drum and base club. As a new build bar, the new owner wanted a completely new, sophisticated and contemporary design. It has proven highly popular, following the completed new look.

The bar consists of two levels. The entrance level at ground floor has been designed with a holiday destination type Moroccan theme, evident within the choice of furniture and wall decor. The thought behind was so customers could escape their day to day routine when visiting this venue.

This floor level remains open for day-time as well as night-time customers. It is particularly popular with couples, reflected in the exotic style design elements. The repeated arches which integrate decorative wall discs and back lighting are a dominant design feature along the wall.

When we asked Steve Ward from Astounding about the choice of different styles of design in one venue. He told us.

‘This is yet another bar where we have challenged the ideas of contemporary design, it is about celebrating an idea and sharing the inspiration, hopefully people will like it and put it on to their destination list, when on a night out. So far this has been the case and is getting the right high spending crowd in that we aimed it at.’  ‘It’s about giving the public different flavours to try and experience’

At first floor level is a space designed for an evening type atmosphere. The red and contrasting black has been designed to give the space a contemporary yet sophisticated appearance. This area as well as the ground floor level are both open until late in the night and have therefore been designed to maximise on customer trade. The stylish floor finishes take into account that these areas will transition into dance floor spaces.

With its contemporary, champagne bar at first floor level, the furniture has been selected to suit. Champagne tables surround the modern style sofas to create refined chill-out zones. This floor level remains an exclusive space and as such attracts a sophisticated, mature crowd
